At Risk of or Experiencing Homelessness
Community Outreach Worker & Homeless Outreach Team
We have a full time Community Outreach Worker that is tasked with working one-on-one with clients to help them to meet their needs and move forward towards a housing solution. She is available by way of appointment, or walk-in here at city hall depending on her schedule and availability. It is always best to set an appointment. She can be reached at 619-679-0350 or via email.
Additionally, our city has a Homeless Outreach Team which spends one morning a week out in the neighborhood providing street outreach. Our goal with street outreach is to be able to bring to our unsheltered clients in contact with the exact resources they need in order to make strides towards finding permanent housing. Street outreach is a critical service to people experiencing homelessness in Imperial Beach, and as such we strive to match our practices to the San Diego Continuum of Care Standards for Street Outreach. More information regarding the San Diego Continuum of Care and Regional Task Force on Homelessness San Diego can be found here.
Our team is authorized to utilize a local information technology system that allows us to collect client-level data and match it with data from organizations that provide housing and other services to individuals and families experiencing or at risk of experiencing homelessness. This greatly shortens the time we spend matching the proper resources to the individuals. For more information on how we manage the privacy of all data provided to us, please see the Notice of Privacy Practices that is available for review here Version Options At Risk of or Experiencing Homelessness Headline.
Access to Services
The purpose of the Coordinated Entry System (CES) is to ensure that all people experiencing homelessness in San Diego County have fair and equal access. They must be quickly identified, assessed, and prioritized for housing resources, no matter where or when they present for services. The first step in getting entered into the coordinated entry system is to have an assessment called the VI-SPDAT Completed. Assessment centers can be found here Version OptionsAt Risk of or Experiencing HomelessnessHeadline Access to Services Access to ServicesAn appointment may also be made with our Community Outreach Worker who can assist with the CES process. To schedule an appointment, call 619-679-0350 or email.

How to Apply for Homeless Prevention in San Diego
The homeless prevention and rehousing programs are time-limited. Currently, every year the needs of the greater San Diego County are reassessed. If taxpayer dollars allow it, and there is a need, then additional funding may be given to the region for stopping the evictions of income-qualified families.
Apply for ESG through the San Diego County website.
